Transport company J.P. Vis has been established in 1932, by "grandpa" Vis. Mister J.P. Vis started with a horse and carriage to perform actually the same which we do now still do. Transport of vegetables from the farmers in the Westland to the auctioneers. Then every village in the Westland had its own sale by auction and actually present sale by auction system is abandoned. Now the majority of the vegetables is picked up directly at the farmers and being transported directly to customers abroad.
The transportcompany of grandpa Vis grew steadily and in 1938 he could afford to buy his own truck. A type A Ford of wich you can see a picture on this page. This truck is still in our posesion and proudly presented in our small museum.
He expanded his activities also to other forms of transport and when in 1958 his first son entered the buisiness he transported with five trucks through the whole of the Netherlands. His son expanded the buisiness even further with vegetabletransport to the whole of Europe and this was the actual bases for the company we still are: a transport company with a leading position on the area of conditioned transport.
